Since 2005 Hellwig writes his own plays for theatre. Some of his plays has been directed by himself. Interdisciplinary performances on special locations in the Netherlands and Germany:
In a storehouse, at a former butcher's, in a city park. In spring 2011 he showed his architectonic installation From U to Pia about past and present utopias.
He lives in Amsterdam since 1995.
